Design Appreciation

Good Design

Shampoo Bottle
This product is well designed as it has grooves on its side to enable the user to grip the shampoo bottle  when his hands are wet or soapy.

THIS IS THE LINK: Coroflot

Sofa Beds
This design is good as it is a sofa and bed at the same time, so it saves money, as well as space.

Bad Designs

The upright toothpaste bottle is a faulty design. Although it allows for the toothpaste bottle to stand upright, it is difficult to squeeze out the toothpaste and when there is just a little bit left, it is almost impossible to get it out. In this way, the form of the toothpaste bottle does not help its function.

wheelchair-friendly bathroom

This is a bad design as the toilet paper is too far from where the person is.

Ideation

Shape Borrowing
Shape borrowing is a technique whereby a person uses the shape of an everyday object as an inspiration for designing a whole new creation. Shape borrowing can also be used when the designer does not know what shape his/her creation should be like. He/She might use objects in his/her everyday life to design the creation. For example, a person might design a table lamp with an elephant trunk as its stand.

S.C.A.M.P.E.R
SCAMPER is a technique whereby people or designers use to modify and refine the functions or design of the creation. It also can be used to eliminate certain unwanted functions or parts of the creation.

Here is what SCAMPER stands for:
S - Substitute
C - Combine
A - Adapt
M - Modify
P - Put to other purposes
E - Eliminate
R - Reverse/Rearrange

SCAMPER can also be used to decide which design is best for production. For example, SCAMPER is used to refine each creation and design. And at the end of it all, the best creation is chosen based on the good things about it found out by SCAMPER technique.

2. How do we create our storyboard?
We can go to Pages and select the layout of the page to be a storyboard layout.
3. When or where is our storyboard useful?
It is useful when we want to get the rough ideas of the story.

Good and Bad Photos

photo.php.jpg
I think this picture is good because the photographer made use of the light around to create the effect.

photo.php.jpg

This picture is bad because it is blurry and does not have a focus point. It also makes it seem like the subject in the picture is crashing into the photographer.

What I drew about ADMT

This is what I drew about ADMT. It represents different kinds of elements forming into a 'word'. ADMT is also like different elements coming together to form a subject that lets us express ourselves in many different yet creative ways.
